Clark-Drain awarded BS EN124-2:2015 Kitemark

Clark-Drain’s ductile iron access cover range has achieved the internationally recognised BS EN124-2:2015 certification. The attainment demonstrates the company’s commitment to the consistently high quality of its range of products and updates the company’s previous certification to BS EN124:1994.

BS EN124-2:2015 is the BSI standard for gully tops and manhole tops for vehicular and pedestrian use.

Commenting on the achievement, Jeremy Nesbitt, Clark-Drain’s Technical Manager said:

“We are pleased to announce that Clark-Drain has been awarded Kitemark certification to BS EN124-2:2015 for its full range of ductile iron products. Whilst BS EN124-2:2015 remains a voluntary standard we assessed its content carefully last year and decided that the additional clauses and tests relating to child-safety and stability of product in use provide for enhanced product performance and reassurance to our valued customers. Pleasingly, due to the sophisticated and enhanced designs of our existing ductile iron products, the testing and certification process has been straight-forward. We have already instructed our manufacturing units to amend production accordingly to show the revised marking requirements of BS EN124-2:2015 so that new stocks will start coming through the supply chain at the earliest opportunity.  This will take several months though as we hold significant stocks at all times to enable us to support all our customer’s delivery needs. In the meantime products certified to BS EN124:1994 remain available and valid to sell and use as, contrary to some reports in the market, BSI UK have confirmed that they are continuing to support existing Kitemark certification to the old standard now and for the foreseeable future.  Suggestions that the 1994 edition of the standard will be completely obsolete by March 2017 are incorrect.”

The ductile iron range is dedicated to a variety of applications including highways and non-highways. It is available with clear openings ranging from 450mm diameters to 1800mm x 675mm.
