Clark-Drain was formerly known as Clarksteel Ltd, which was founded in 1965 by Francis Clark and his wife Dorothy who were looking to buy a manhole cover. At that time they were quoted a 12 to 18 month delivery time! So instead of waiting, they set about making a cover by themselves.
From these beginnings Clark-Drain's international operation was born. In fact, that first cover set new industry standards as it was made from steel rather than the usual cast iron.
Francis sadly passed away in 1998, but family members continue to play key roles in the business and Dorothy still remains actively involved, son Ronnie Clark has responsibility for the day to day operation as Managing Director, their daughter, Pam Spencer, is HR Director along with their grandchildren who also now work within the company.
At Clark-Drain we continue to support substantial investments in our technology and people here in the UK and worldwide as both our national and international business continues to expand. But even though we have become much larger we still retain our traditional values – meeting our customer needs by being highly innovative and not compromising on quality.
We are focused on giving customers the best possible service, all work is carried out to BS-EN ISO9002 (Certificate No.900824) standards and the whole team is committed to the principles of Total Quality Management. It is a policy that is certainly paying dividends as we continue to expand our operations.
